Winter PonyBytes Photo Fun Show

Winter PonyBytes Photo Fun Show

Show Type:  Fun Show!

Entries Accepted until Friday, December 11th, 10PM PST. Info here.

Uploading Begins:  Saturday December 12th, 6AM PST

Uploading Ends:  Sunday December 13th, 9PM PST

Judging ends:  Judging will be completed by 9PM PST on Saturday December 19th

Host:  Erin Corbett, 'corbetthost', erin.corbett@gmail.com

Judging Criteria:  This is a fun show, so judging criteria will flex between overall aesthetics of the photo, sense of humor, anatomy/biomechanics/color accuracy, and best storytelling, depending on the class and division!

Four Divisions/Judges:
  1. The Greyt Grey Challenge - Grey themed entries, judged by Erin Corbett
  2. The Barn Division - Barn/Arena/Stable themed entries, judged by Kenzie Williamson
  3. The Mares In Black Division - MIB themed entries, judged by Jackie Arns-Rossi and Heather Malone, The Mares!
  4. Winter Fantasy and Animal Fun - judged by Kristen Cermele
Title Field should include: In the title field, put either your horse's name, the name of your entry (e.g., if it's a theme like "Winter Wonderland" with a lot of different elements), or you can leave it blank. Putting something in there, and making it under 50 characters is best.

Description Field: If you don't want to compete for annual points, your photo's description field should be formatted like this, note the use of asterisks and pipe characters:

NAME*Horse Name|OTHER*Breed or Gender or Any Other Info you want to complete your entry.

Read here for more info on this, and if you want to compete for points, there's a slight variation explained here. What is in the NAME* area is what is going to appear in the results where the horse's name would ordinarily appear.

Rules:  Almost none. Unlimited entry for each entrant, photos/models *may* cross enter within divisions and across divisions. Any class that does not specify a finish is open to all makes/models/finishes. Photos not taken by the entrant are allowed, with permission from the photographer.

Question about the title field!

You say:
Quote:Title Field should include:  Model's name, breed, and gender, as well as any other comments you think help complete your entry's story.

The title field doesn't have a ton of room. So for example my attempt to copy my description up into the title went like this:

Quote:Astra Shenanigans - Cross Country - Connemara Pony mare. Astra Shenanigans is a "packer" w

Maybe instead you want the title to be name, breed, gender and then the description field contains the longer comments to complete the story?

Hi there! I have a question about photo showing in general, rather than this site. I have a photo that has 6 horses with no particular "star" of the scene, should I just pick a random one to tag? Thanks in advance!

Hi Zoe! I answered this on FB, but yes - you can just pick one of them to tag, thanks!

Exclamation
The "title" field that goes with your photos is the only field that show staff can see when they're looking at the "whole class" (which is a bunch of thumbnails). For a person to see what's in the longer "description" field, the person has to click and enlarge the photo. When you're trying to steward, that can become annoying lol.

So in the instructions I left it up to hosts as to what to put in the "title" field. For this PonyBytes Winter fun show, I told Erin there doesn't really seem to be any need nor any coherent way to dictate to folks what to put in that title field. So here's what I'm going to advise folks to do, and Erin agrees...

In the title field, put either your horse's name, the name of your entry (e.g., if it's a theme like "Winter Wonderland" with a lot of different elements), or you can leave it blank. It might be a little easier for judges if you actually put something in there, because it will give them extra clues to distinguish one pic from another. Keep it short because they can only see like 45-50 characters.

Hope this helps! I will edit Erin's post above.

I entered my first photo in the Grey winter scene class and I don't know if I did the
ID*015|NAME*Khargo|EVENT*Breed|OTHER*Arabian right because technically this isn't a breed class, right?  What else should I put in the event section? And how do I view the table that shows up that is generated by this code? I haven't been able to figure that out yet.

Also it doesn't seem to be keeping what I type in to the description field when I am in the process of editing and copying over - so it seems the description field has to be saved from MyGallery view and whatever is in there at the time that I hit edit is what stays when I enter the copy into a show. Hmmm

Hello there! I'm working with another entrant and will get right back to you. I think for these I want to login as my test user to investigate so give me a sec. Smile

For Khargo, I would use "Scene" as the event instead of "Halter." Smile Your formatting is perfect!

Sure no problem. Go up to the topmost menu, click "Reports" and then click "MY ITEM NOS." Just an FYI, if you are not logged in to PonyBytes at the time you look at this report, or if there are no photos with item numbers, the system will give you a smart-aleck response ("I got nothin toots...").
